TIPS FOR DEALING WITH TODDLER TANTRUMS

Keep your cool

The terrible twos can be a draining time for parents, as little toddlers have already started to develop big personalities. It's important to try and not "react" to bad behaviour (as much as we may want to tear our hair out!) as this may teach your child that they can get attention by being naughty.

If your toddler throws a tantrum, try not to give them a reaction but give them a warning instead, and a time out if the bad behaviour continues. But if your child does a positive task, like draws you a picture, you should reward this with lots of hugs, praise and attention. Most importantly, however, is to lead by example, because children will copy and imitate your actions. Try to keep your cool in any dispute so they learn to do the same.
