Toys can be teachers too!

It's important to encourage a love of learning from an early age and one of the best ways is through educational play.

When buying toys, there are a few key things to look out for:

  • Check the age appropriateness, as most toys are made with developmental milestones in mind. A toy designed for a toddler may bore a younger child, but one that is too advanced may deter a child from learning.
  • Research different learning goals, as each toy is designed to focus on a different skill.
  • Functional play allows kids to find out what objects do, and what they can do with objects.
  • Constructive play helps develop imaginations, and is all about goal-orientated activities like painting or making something out of dough.
